I have finally reached the pinnacle of the MPC collector - all 12 modules! The comp and tube sound arrived yesterday and I offer special thanks to the forum member who made this possible.

At some point I'd like to put together a comprehensive review/rating/value matrix of each module, but that would just be my opinion. Here's how I rate them so far:

1) Phaser
2) Octaver
3) Filter Follower
4) Flanger
5) Tank Sound
6) Auto wah
7) Compressor
8) Dynamic Fuzz
9) Tube sound
10) Treble Bass
11) Frognose
12) Power overdrive

Thanks all. I didn't want this to sound like gloating:) I've watched eBay and craigs everyday for years to find all these (plus buying a few too many guitars)....now I'm a craigs/eBay/Electra addict......and the iPhone is the great enabler......I think I bought one guitar waiting in line for a ride at Disney - now that's sad......pisses my wife off to boot! I think I'm going to have to go to Electra rehab....after this next Vulcan comes in....and after we hear more from Tom Presley....and after - oh forget it - ain't gonna happen!

As for sound clips of the modules, I'll have to think about that. I've never posted any music on the web and have no idea how to do it. Plus, I haven't had the patience to record anything in years.

Congratulations, I know you've been at it for a while. You've rated the octave box pretty high, I've never heard one personally. I find myself keeping the Dynamic Fuzz (which is basically a Power Overdrive on Steroids) on all the time, like the Active circuit in a X250 or X150. I'm warming up to the Treble/Bass expander as of late, originally didn't know what it was good for, but have found that you can use it as a Single Coil simulator in a MPC (no MPC's have a coilcut option) and also use it to boost the high end when you turn down the main volume for clean passages (usually lose high frequencies when you turn the volume down).

If you don't want to record the modules, rent them to me for the weekend, I'll throw together a clip to post (wink wink). I'd like to find out what the difference between the autowah and filter follower sound like. Cheers, Mike.

Yea, those were my ratings at the time. I sat and played through all 12 and put them in that order. I just think the octave box is really fun, especially coupled with the filter follower - that's probably my favorite combination. There are certainly better octaver effects out there, but this one just catches my ear.

The MPC manual has some suggestions for module combinations and settings - I need to try those out.

Btw, some vulcans have coil taps on the bridge pu. But I agree the treble/bass is a very nice active eq. Just not something I would use much.

The autowah is pretty cool - better on the slowest setting and not trying to 'beat match' it. It's not dynamic and reactive like the Filter Follower - I could easily rate that the best module. But I love the slow, fat roll of the phaser.

For me this was mostly about building the collection...finding guitars in great shape, etc. I play for fun and personal enjoyment, but I love collecting cool things. The hunt.....the kill.....

I think I'm done now....i'm not selling from the module collection, but i'll likely sell one of the vulcans, a phaser, and a power overdrive here in the near future.

I have used Dropbox to post sound clips. It is free and easy to use.
