Post subject: Thunder III info pls.
PostPosted: Thu Feb 06, 2003 11:49 am

My son recently bought what was described as a Westone Thunder II fretless bass off ebay. However some research since suggests to me that it is in fact a ThunderIII despite what it says on the truss rod cover. It's a through neck, two pickups one J one P style active and passive tone controls, volume and three small micro switchesnear the control knobs in addition to the pickup selecter on the top horn. Is it possible to get a wiring schematic so that we can figure exactly what these switches do. One appears to be active tone on / off.
Incidently he loves it and it seems to be an awful lot of guitar for the money such that I am now looking for a 6 string fretted equivalent.
Any information appreciated.

Hello Chris

I have the same dilemma as you.Mine also has Thunder II but looks exactly like a Thunder III.
I am looking for wiring/circuit diagram too so as to sell it on.
Dont know if you since found any info.If I find some and you still need it I will be in contact. No luck yet.

Vinny :)

hey chris,

westone and electra guitars are indeed a lot for the money. you can typically find them on ebay for 100-200$. do a search for (electra, westone).

note that the electra phoenix, electra westone, and westone spectrum are the same vaguely strat-shaped body. look especially for the ones with 2-1-2 pickups- two humbuckers and a single coil.

you can get a lot more info on these guitas by checking out electraman's electra site as well as the westone page- see the forum's links list.
