Hi, i`m new here, my name is Rafael. I bought this x210 in very bad shape to restore it. ... true&rt=nc

the serial number on this picture is a 5 digit code. from what I have read at this forum the first digit should be the year. then this one is from 82??? but then the month don`t have sense... 23¿?

the pots have a code too can it be used to date it?

best regards

There has been a lot of talk about the serial number dating scheme and the more I read the less reliable I find it. For some guitars, particularly those made by the Matsumoku factory it works. But I have two where it does not. One has a serial number indicating it was built in 1985 though I bought it in 1984. The other has a serial number beginning in 7, indicating it was from 1977, or 1987. That model was not yet in production in 1977 and by 1987 they had significantly re-designed it from what I have.

If you show more pictures with more details of the guitar, that could be a big help in dating it.

Good luck with the restoration. There are a lot of knowledgeable and helpful people here.
