I think I'm going to go with the basic Phaser/Overdrive combo in my MPC for the most part. My question is; Is there a recommended MPC bay for this combo? i.e. MPC1 in bay 1 & MPC 5 in bay 2. Or will all modules perform equally well in either bay with any other module?

My preference is the phaser in first slot and power overdrive in second

This is a pretty goods reference -

The MPC User's Manual lists some possible combinations -

This was originally submitted by Leia a few years ago -

I don't know if she is still a member or if she has turned her Electra guitars over to someone else ........

Enjoy -

So it matters which one is in which bay? didn't know that, cool. I'll experiment with that too. Thanks!

I saved this to my PC along time ago - and also printed it for quick reference.

I think it is like having a chain of pedals, the order matters.

Odd that Phase/Power OD were the ones that shipped with the guitars and they're not covered as a combo in manual?!?! Even stranger, individual it calls for them both in bay 2! But thanks Mortorman for your combo, I'll try that.

I use Mortarman’s suggested combination above on my X330 -

I use this combination exclusively in my X340 –

I think the book called for the phase to to be in slot 1, the toggle farthest away. Mine always sounded a little better that way, I have a treb/bass boost on the toggle next to the tone knob and the phase in the other. And thats how it was in the store when I got it.

I know there are recommendations but I don't think it matters which slot is used. I'm pretty sure each slot is wired identically and I've never heard a difference between the two. Having said that, there would also presumably be a reason for the SLM recommendations - I just can't figure it out.

As this article tries to say "there is no correct order, it is what sounds good". But there are good recommendations to try and give you the path towards a good sound.

I have a copy of a break down something like that from Harmony central that was printed in an issue of Musicians Friend monthly catalogs. It is layed out much the same way showing the distortion before the wah but noting Hendrix used it with the Wah before the distortion. They mentioned the problem of noise and feed back is lessoned with this lay out, but also as you said its what works for you and your sound.
