Those are just lovely! Excellent use of reflection to show the shiny black body!

but can't figure out how to do so. Help please.

It's a black LP style, bound front and back, no serial number stamped into the neck mounting plate, "custom" engraved on the truss rod cover, tulip-shaped tuner knobs, top hat conrol knobs, gold-plated hardware. Both pick-ups are covered. It's NOT the Omega, has the symmetrical open book head stock, mother of pearl script "Electra" on it with the diamond thingies below the logo. It's not exactly like any of the others I've seen on this forum.

I bought it in '75, so my best guess is that it's a '74 - '76. Paid around $250, dealer threw in a hard shell case.

I replaced the 3-way toggle with another that is more roadworthy after it failed. I also replaced the tuners with gold=plated Grovers, but still have the originals (I have a pic of them as well).

I've inquired here before about it, I'm pretty sure it's a 2242. From all the searching I've been able to do, it appears that Electra had different model numbers for exact same guitars in different colors.

Thanks for your help

It sounds like a 2242.

Here's the puzzling thing- there are two really different versions of the pre-wave (lawsuit) 2242's. SOme have round-e logos, some have diagonal logos. They are completely differnt, feel different, different binding and hardware. It's like they were the same general model (black LP) as made by two different factories.

Which factories? I don't know. I have some guesses, at least one of them is Fujigen, and I think the other one might be Matt. But I don't know that for sure yet.

instead, email the pics to me, I'll upload them and give you an URL- that way the pics can remain on the site server and never disappear.

There's no upload option otherwise, the editor expects you're going to paste in an URL and use the Img button- it uses a pseudocode simlar to BBcode but different.

Paul,

site still needs the model number information corrected for the R-Bass'

R-Bass models

SLM 2278 Cherry Burst finish. maple bolt neck with rosewood fingerboard, and full width sparkle inlays, mono output, checkerboard body binding, 33.5" scale, '74-'76

SLM 2279 Natural finish, maple bolt neck, with maple fingerboard, and full width black inlays, mono output, checkerboard body binding, 33.5" scale. '74-'76

SLM 2279 (Variation) Natural finish, maple set/bolt neck with maple fingerboard and small black triangle inlays, mono ouput, larger checkerboard body binding, 33.25" scale, pickup design mirrors what it copies fairly accurately, late '76

SLM 2288 Natural Maple finish, neck through with rosewood fingerboard, and smaller pearly triangle inlays, stereo/mono output, larger checkerboard body binding, 34" scale, pickup design mirrors what it copies fairly accurately, '77 (maybe '78 too)

SLM 2289 Cherry Burst finish, neck through with rosewood fingerboard, and smaller pearly triangle inlays, stereo/mono output, larger checkerboard body binding, 34" scale, pickup design mirrors what it copies fairly accurately, '77 (maybe '78 too)

SLM 2289 (Variation)?? Cherry Burst finish, neck through with lighter rosewood fingerboard, and smaller pearly triangle inlays, stereo/mono output, plain white body binding, 33.25" scale, pickup dimensions exactly match what's copied

I can provide pics of all too. the one currently on the site for the maple mono one right now, is actually a stripped down cherry burst model....

I'd like to invite everyone to begin posting pics of their guitars in the main Electra site-

Registered members can upload pictures here:

http://www.rivercityamps.com/electraforum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=4141

Then go to the index of models page here and click on your model:

http://www.rivercityamps.com/electrapage/static.php?page=index_of_models

when you click to the specific model you'll notice there's a form at the bottem for adding comments, blog-style, including uploading and posting pictures. If you need help, PM me and I'll help.

THe only thing you can't do is go back and edit (or delete) your comment. SO if you mess up, jsut do it over again. I'll see your duplicates and delete them. :)

Note that I'm still working on the pages for the Phoenix/Spectrum and pointy models, sorry Dynasty lovers! But hey, PM me to complain and I'll make sure your model gets up next.

See what this does though- it means new pictures can get posted right away without having to wait for slow admins like me to get around to it.

I just uploaded the photos of my X135NA but can't get them to attach. Please add them when you get to working on that page.

Well where do I star? Here is a link to the best shots of my electras that I posted for the Electrafest 2011. It has nice photos of most of my Electras. Long thread so just scroll down as I did sneak peaks each week of different models and types.

Just a note about the X175JB page...I guess I hadn't really read the description but, it doesn't match my X175JB entirely (mine is pictured on that page).

The description says:
"Bolt neck double cutaway with maple body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, black hardware, graphite nut and tekglide (vintage style) bridge, three single-coil pickups with three knobs (V-T-T) and 3-way selector knife switch."

On mine the selector is a 5-Way selector with a push/pull switch on the bottom potentiometer. The push/pull is phase reverse in positions 2 and 4 on the selector. One other difference is the nut; on mine it's bone. Could be some had graphite I suppose, it would make some sense with the temolo since just touching the tem on mine puts it out of tune! As a result I no longer use it and, in fact, have a block in there to keep it in place.

The rest looks correct. I think I still have the documentation that came with the guitar, including the specs. I haven't looked at it it years but can double check.
