This is a late 1976 or early 1977 model from the looks of the modified open book headstock and the older style tailpiece and pineapple TRC. This one is a nice player grade and looks OK with some wear from normal play. These are awesome guitars and have an slim fast neck and the pickups have awesome tone for days. This one is at a low start so far and would make a great gig guitar or a daily palyer. Check it out and lets hope it stays low so someone here can score a great deal. :look:

Got it! Hoping for the best. The tailpiece should be about the easiest fix ever. Too bad about the mounting holes in the body. Now that I'm in hock again, I have to STOP looking at Electra's which is alot easier said than done. 8)

That's GREAT news. I'm very glad you grabbed that one. I was thinking about bidding, since I like the one I already have so much.....

I gotta git rid of this twosies problem I've got.

By the way...would one of you guys add my recent sale to the datasheet for me ?

model 2254 with hardcase, nonoriginal pups and tuners....400.00

Thanks JD - I've added the 2254. It's been a good (expensive) week for me. Even though I lost out on the X410 at the last second, I got a decent Ultima and this Elvin for under 1k combined. I'm actually surprised the Elvin did not go for much more. What's your take on the tailpiece? Looks original to me but I doubt there should be any nuts stacked on there. I figure it should just have the cap nut. I'm guessing it's some kind of metric thread. Maybe its aftermarket because it also looks like someone tried to mount that tailpiece with the plate folded over on the body face. That I do not understand. Other than that, it really looks pretty nice to me.

Looks like they might have slapped an old Tiesco-style hardtail (could have been a vintage Bibsby-style trem...not familiar with the screw pattern) on there at one time, to get it playable.....possibly while they were trying to find an original trapeze for it.

Here's a thread showing the proper tailpiece config.

Thanks again JD! That picture in your link says it all. Hopefully a trip to the local HD or Lowe's will produce some shoddy Mexican or Chinese cap nuts that I will be ashamed of but will use anyway. Boy, I gotta say, now that it's sinking in, I'm very excited and can't wait to get my hands on the guitar. I never figured I would land one of these. :D :hyper: Something has to go to make room though and I believe it has to be my beloved '88 Rick 330 that I bought new in '88. My "other" X330 is still on ebay and it really surprises me it hasn't sold long ago. I must be doing a poor job of describing it because it's really an awesome player - I just want to cure my twosie problem as well.

BTW - did you ever get the correct tailpiece?

You will love the Elvin. The sound with that trapeze is great. I will see if I can figure out what size the caps are. I was fortunate enough to get that 100% original very nice one and I as well as everyone that plays it loves it. the neck is a bit slim at the top but very playable and comfprtable. It will take a little practice to get used to the vine inlay markers but it's more play time to get in while you are learning. Thhis Elvin model is one of those that once yo pick it up it is very difficult to put back down again. Very smooth action and tones are off the chart. I have had gibson 335 players that were astounded at the sopunds these put out. Congrats on the score. Good to see some great Electras going to fellow forum members.
